Orlando 2011 Trip Report
Nov. 22, 2011

If I was a museum curator, I'd gladly make room for Cheetah Hunt in its permanent collection. Really, Busch Gardens, Intamin, and the entire creative staff, much respect.

I could go on. But to the meat of the matter: this is a coaster that is designed to please a wide audience, not the hardcore enthusiast, and in that regard, it is stellar.

This much should be clear by now to those who know me: I'm a total launch-slut. One is great. Two, a special kind of wonderful. But three, in one coaster? You're killing me. And Cheetah Hunt is about so much more than those launches. Like the Sky Ride leap.

Someday I hope to shake the hand of the person who suggested this idea. You, sir or ma'am, deserve a Congressional Medal of Honor or something.

Like the big cat for which it's named, this ride is smooth, fast, incredibly agile. And the frantic back-and-forth twists through the former Rhino Rally terrain are a blast; I'd say that's where this kittie-cat really earns its stripes... or spots, in this case.

And while it may not be a legit cheetah maneuver, this inversion is lotsa fun, too.

I'm still not entirely sold on the name - what the hell was wrong with "Cheetaka" anyway? - but that aside, Cheetah Hunt runs with the best this park has to offer. Meow!

Did not purchase. But kind of wanted to.
