Orlando 2011 Trip Report

Jaws, on the other hand, continues to rock hard. Fire, as always, makes it good.

Men In Black: Alien Attack also remains an incredible treat. The older I get, the more I disdain "shooter" dark rides, but that interactive component works for the experience here. And the art direction and alien beasties are world-class. (Plus, MIB is one of my favorite movies, the first one, anyway. This third one they're making better not suck.)

The only thing this ride needed was more Linda Fiorentino. But that is true for so very many things.

As an extension of the film's story, MIB:AA is exemplary.

Another new credit, and ay chihuahua, this knocked my socks off. I thought Revenge... out here on the West Coast was good. It is, of course, very good. But Florida's version bitch-slaps it into next week. The special effects, the uphill launch, the pyrotechnics, and the

all make this attraction one of the greatest dark rides known to man. There's some to-do about Brendan Frasier getting a decent cup of coffee or whatnot and since we missed the set-up in the queue (VIP access!), the pay-off at the end was kind of "Huh?" But other than that, super-freaking mega-awesome. I tell you, with this, MIB, Spidey, and Forbidden Journey, the Uni Orlando resort is Grown-Ups' Dark Ride Heaven.

The Simpsons Ride rules, always and forever.

On Sunday, we hit all the IOA water rides, Ripsaw Falls (pictured above), the Bilge Rat Barges, and the Jurassic Park River Adventure, one right after the other. I've never been more soaked to the skin. Is this triplet of H2O-powered fun machines unmatched at any other park? Discuss.
