New York City Photo Trip Report – Part 2 - Coney Island
August 2, 2012

And even though this has a shorter layout than the Pony Express, it feels longer, as there are more twists, turns and little surprises.

It doesn't expand your consciousness or anything, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. (I'd love to see one of these fully enclosed, with bitchen lighting effects, make it a real low-budget Tron lightcycle rip-off attraction, call it "Space Choppers!" or something.)

Since I'm dreaming out loud again, did they consider designing the layout as a long oval, around the whole Scream Zone, just like the original Steeplechase ride? What could have been... Anyway, I recommend this for anyone tall enough, very fun.

I was surprised to see that the Polar Express is still in operation. I was also surprised to see that they want ten dollars to ride an aging Himalaya. Nice try.

Another independent concession that survives is this dark ride right next to the Polar Express and while I was tempted, common sense got the better of me.

The puking punk out front, who expels fluid from both the attic and the basement? Lovely. (And I say that with affection because I enjoy stoopid gross-out humor a bunch.)
