Later in the afternoon, we moseyed back to The Scream Zone. Doesn't that Zamperla Volare coaster look enticing, with the nifty spiral lift and the pretty, bright red curlicues of track? It does, doesn't it?

But I know better. (Not to be needlessly harsh, but would a Volare coaster be here if Zamperla wasn't in charge? Honestly...)

The Scream Zone also features a Sling Shot, which I rode at an IAAPA show years ago, and those things are INTENSE.

There is also a Zamperla Turbo Force, another great, high-jolt attraction, dubbed Zenobio. I'm not sure why, but "Zenobio" rolls off the tongue nicely, I think.

Damn you for looking as good as you do, Soarin' Eagle. Damn you straight to hell.

The Scream Zone machine I was compelled to sample was the Steeplechase coaster. This is one of Zamperla's stock "Moto Coasters," themed to the legendary horse-racing attraction that was Steeplechase Park's E-Ticket ride.

Like Knott's Berry Farm's custom Pony Express, this ride is launched, and features horsey-shaped cars which are mounted equestrian-style. The blast-off is pretty peppy!
