West Coast Bash 2012 - Six Flags Magic Mountain, Day One
February 26, 2012
The question and answer portion of the presentation was entertaining and loaded with snark. Tim Burkhart has a pretty wicked sense of humor.
And then it wrapped up with no surprise announcement of additional evening ERT. So that meant we'd have Revolution, X2, Viper, and Tatsu.
That in itself was a bit of a surprise. In years past, they opened a ton of rides for us at night. Four is pretty good by a standard measure, but this was something of a letdown for WCB vets. Personally, the biggest disappointment was no Apocalypse. Maybe we'll get luckier next year.
Our group skipped the add-on dinner option and headed out to a new joint called Gameday, just down the hill from the park. It's a sports-bar kind of place, not normally my cup of tea, but it was terrific.

The chicken wings were pretty solid and the sweet potato fries with a custom marshmallow dipping sauce? DELICIOUS.

By the time we got back in, after dark, the park wasn't super-crowded, so we did manage to grab two killer runs on Pocky after all. OUT OF CONTROL, yo.
And that was it for me. Lines for Tatsu and X2 looked really long (turned out not to be so bad) and I had no burning urge for Revolution or Viper. And the next day was starting crazy-early. So I bid the gang farewell and drove home with happy Knotts thoughts dancing in my head.

Couple more quick notes: Deja Vu is also long gone, but the sign's still up. Funny.

With Log Jammer out, how many of the park's original attractions are still around? Gold Rusher, the Tower, and Sand Blasters? Can that be right, just those three (other than maybe some kiddie attractions)? I hope I'm forgetting a few...
Thanks to Robb and the entire Theme Park Review team, and everyone at Six Flags Magic Mountain for a fantastic day!
Gonna be at this park a lot this year. Lex, I'm taking you down.
