The vertical lift and beyond-vertical drop remain highly entertaining novelties for me. (And man, oh, Manischewitz, am I psyched to ride Fuji-Q's mega-Eurofighter Takabisha this summer. And then Alton Towers' 'roid-blasted super-mega-Eurofighter The Smiler further down the line.)

And I always appreciate any theme elements, like the control tower, and the wind socks and stuff.

It's funny; my first recollection was that DDD had quite a few inversions, but then I checked rcdb.com to get the precise number: only three, and they're all in this photograph.

It's a pretty good tangle of track, though. I dug it. (Also worth pointing out now: some of these DDD photos, and others to come, were taken during the afternoon behind-the-scenes walkback, yet another Deep South Bash perk. It was a full loop of the entire park, very gnarly.)

I will always miss Six Flags Great Adventure's Arrow mega-looper, but if we can have only one GASM, I'm glad this is the one we got to keep.

It's still such an old-school beauty.

I can't say that I love it, but it's a John Allen, man, a classic of its era.
