Six Flags Great America 2011 Trip Report
Sept. 20, 2011

One thing you should not miss is this model of the park, from its earliest days, at one of the gift shops near the front. What a fabulous historical record. Look, you can see the "Tree Triple Wheel," Turn of the Century, Tidal Wave, all kinds of neat stuff.

I presume this was built as part of the design and planning stage? How wonderful that it was saved and is now on public display. Granted, I love models, but wouldn't this be a delight at EVERY park?

There's Turn... before its demonic possession, and oh, those Schwarzkopf shuttle loops...

Dueling flumers...

Willard's Whizzer! 'Member when they were gearing up to get rid of this ride? Shudder to think...

V2 is another coaster I would have loved to ride, but limited time, yada, yada, so it was skipped.

It's too bad the brakes aren't grabby on the rear spike any more. I hope that feature returns one day.

We bypassed almost all of them, but Great America has plenty of spin and spews, like this amusingly themed Monster/Polyp thingee.

And a fairly rare Condor. (With nary a power line in sight.)
