Orlando 2011 Trip Report
Nov. 22, 2011

That said, for someone with just casual knowledge of the saga, this is still all very wicked.

Another view of Hogwarts from the greenhouse portion of the queue, impressive from every angle.

"Now buttle off and tell Baron Brunwald that Lord Clarence McDonald and his lovely assistant are here to view the tapestries!"
And then there is the hall of the talking portraits... And the room where Harry, Hermione and Ron set up the adventure we're about to begin... And about a million other little bits of magic that make this queue one of the best ever.
And then there is the ride itself. Better than Spider-man? I'd say so.
First, the dynamic motion of the ride vehicles is beyond anything I've ever experienced in a dark ride before. It moved in ways I did not - could not - expect. Like that part where you're flat on your back? Just one example. And I'm not sure how many Gs we pull, but this isn't for anyone with delicate stomachs.
Second, the integration of the vehicle movement with the filmed and projected elements is brilliant. I do wish the images were touch brighter, but that's a miniscule issue. Again, brilliant.
Third, the practical sets and effects are incredible and we get very close to some... things.
Last, there's one moment that was truly frightening. And it remained frightening every ride. For realz, if you have major problems with spiders, DO NOT RIDE THIS RIDE.
All in all, a masterpiece that could only be significantly improved in one way: free Butterbeer at the end. Disney and Cameron have their work cut out for them.

The Flight of the Hippogriff is fun!

Dragon Challenge is also fun. Really, a lot of fun. For the most part, they did a great job Potterizing the former Dueling Dragons.

There's the Weasley's flying car...
