Orlando 2011 Trip Report
Nov. 22, 2011

Another pretty solid maze exterior, with the mini-smokestacks, nice touch.

A "prison gone berserk" premise is always a solid foundation for a scary maze and Death Row Vengeance delivered some potent boogedy-boogedy. Getting shot at by the machine guns? SWEET.

A sort of generic "mad doctor" maze, but I recall a lot of gore, and the matronly assistant checking us in for "our appointment" was hysterical.

With all the mazes under our belt, we hit some of the coasters (Would have loved a spin on Cheetah Hunt after dark, but the lines were gitanic until we left.)

Scorpion was a walk-on, Schwarzkopfian bliss. I finally got my SheiKra credit; what an amazing view of downtown Tampa, all lit up, from the top. Montu reminded us all why it will probably never be surpassed as the greatest inverted Beemer ever. Missed out on Kumba, sort of bummed about that.

And Gwazi? Gwazi pretty much tore us limb from limb, in a good way. WINSANITY. I don't know if it was just the addition of the Flyer trains, or if some kind of voodoo was involved, but wow, fantastic. I was holding for dear life most of the time. One track was a hair more ferocious than the other... Lion, I think? But you can't go wrong with either option.

(Now, all this park has to do is to figure out how to load, secure and dispatch more than five trains an hour, and we'll be golden.)

These monster dudes were a big hit.

I didn't get any photos of the hottie zombie cheerleaders (what a fool, I know), nor the chainsaws-and-axes gang, but there was a nice variety of ghoulish folk throughout.
