A Disneyland Christmas Visit
January 22, 2012

Also, whatever is done to remake Tomorrowland – again – the Moonliner stays. Is that understood, Disney? Stays.

The only walk-on attraction we encountered all day was the Captain EO "tribute." So with some time to spare before our Star Tours 2 reservation window opened, we went in. The house was nearly empty.

On the one hand, it's awfully silly. The fashions and hairstyles of the backup dancers are so of their time, you can't help but snicker. The special effects, the puppets, yeah... And the "story?" All of it really only worked when the star of the show was the biggest pop sensation in the world; that elevated everything else (including the opening sequence, which is such a dead steal of the final Star Wars trench run, George Lucas, the producer of this film, should have sued himself).

On the other hand, I did get a chill watching Michael Jackson sing and dance. Whatever else he may have been, the guy was an electrifying musical talent. Such a tragic life.

3P-Diddy, looking good! I must say, the queue for Star Tours is quite a lot of fun, one of the choicest on the Disney properties.

Beep-boop-weeerrrrr-pweeep! Hey, R2! Any news on the Star Wars tee-vee show, or what?

So ST2 was very entertaining. Last October, we got Hoth (rocked!), and Naboo. This trip, we did some pod racing. I did miss getting harassed by real Storm Troopers before we boarded, as we did the first time I went on, but all in all, this upgrade is a great success.

After dinner, we headed over to California Adventure, and got to see the big Christmas parade on the way out. Here's Santa, basking in the adulation of his fans. No coal in my stocking this year, so the big man and I are cool.

I had to start heading out before the others (work the next day, boo), but did manage to squeeze in a ride on Tower of Terror. Okay, sure, it's the lame Tower, but still amazing and I'm glad we have it. A fabulous night ride.

And now we wait for Carsland to open. Soon, very soon...
