West Coast Bash 2012 - Six Flags Magic Mountain, Day One
February 26, 2012

The weekend of February 18th and 19th (President's Day Weekend, for those lucky enough to have had that following Monday off) witnessed another fun-filled West Coast Bash at Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm. Both days were pretty terrific: beautiful weather, lots of great rides, lots of great people.

I spent the first day with Doug and Shannon of The Season Pass, "Tall Paul," RC Mayer, Jeremy, Paul and his son James (also very tall as well, both), and others romping through Magic Mountain, recording some goofy video for an upcoming Season Pass video segment, and generally enjoying a park that has not looked this good in a long time. Some highlights:

There were a few moments of sadness looking at the bare earth where Log Jammer once stood.

Gone, baby, gone.

Heavy equipment everywhere. (Would've been kind of neat had the park let us walk around in there, but no construction tours were offered this year.)

But we all could see the potential for something very exciting to go in this area. Lots of room and some interesting topography to play with.

We'll see what 2013 brings.

Morning ERT included Goliath, Colossus, Scream, BATMAN: The Ride, and Green Lantern, a fairly solid bunch. No question among us, though; Goliath was first.

Still such a sweet ride. I'll never tire of Goliath. (Giovanola, we miss you SO MUCH.)

Oy, that first drop is high-speed ambrosia.
